Italian rebar producers seek increases
Some Italian rebar producers are pushing up their prices by €30/tonne ($36) for new March contracts. The move is however surrounded by doubt and not supported by domestic demand, which has been subdued in recent weeks.
In February buyers were discouraged by high prices, which were not absorbed by the domestic construction sector, and rebar values therefore plunged, Kallanish notes.
