Italian rebar prices rise again on shortage
Italian rebar prices are leaping again, with producers asking for a further €150/tonne ($180) increase compared to the previous week, sources tell Kallanish. This is the result of raw material shortages and escalating energy prices arising from the Ukraine war.
Italian mills are either reducing shifts, producing when energy is less expensive, or stopping their hot-end areas completely and re-rolling using billet from stock.
