Italian pig iron weakens
Italian pig iron prices are losing around $10/tonne (€8.8/t) compared to the end of March in a very slow market, market sources tell Kallanish.
Offers to Italy from Russia and Ukraine are now between $370-375/tonne cif. This price decline is in line with lower international scrap prices, and is mainly due to US buyers refusing higher pig iron import prices and instead preferring to purchase cheaper scrap.
