Italian pig iron prices skyrocket
Italian pig iron prices are skyrocketing as expected, with contracts increasing by $70/tonne compared to November.
Distributors have purchased again from CIS producers to replenish stocks in consignment at the Port of Marghera, the main steel hub in the country. Purchases happened at $480/t cfr for March casting, sources tell Kallanish. This is low-manganese pig iron that is also purchased by foundries and is going to replenish stocks at the port.
