Italian pig iron prices increase
Italian demand for pig iron is strong as both foundries and steel mills are looking for material. Prices are strengthening by some $10-20/tonne compared to transactions in April, market participants tell Kallanish.
Distributors are also buying and negotiating for material. One is said to have purchased at $420/t cfr Italy from a Russian producer allowed to sell in Europe, while a steelmaker is rumoured to have bought Russian pig iron at slightly below this level. …
