Italian pig iron prices are increasing in contracts by some $30/tonne compared to December. The market is resuming activity this week after the winter holiday break and demand is expected to surge. Distributors buying directly from Russian producers allowed to sell in Europe are said to be in need of restocking, sources tell Kallanish.
