Italian pig iron market flatlines
The Italian pig iron market standoff continues, with no interest for material from local mills or from distributors who purchase directly from CIS producers to replenish stocks at the main steel hub, Marghera port, Kallanish notes.
The pig iron previously bought by distributors from the CIS, including Donetsk, is arriving now at Marghera and much of it remains unsold to end customers. Pig iron in consignment at Marghera is said to be abundant.
