Italian pig iron flattens, demand strong
Italian pig iron demand is said to be strong this month, with some purchases being implemented mostly from the CIS region, Kallanish hears.
Transactions with Russian companies allowed to sell in Europe are now occurring in the range of $480-490/tonne cfr Italy. Some 15,000 tonnes of pig iron are now reaching Italy from Ukraine, for material sold this month at $520/t cfr. Contracts agreed with CIS suppliers are now for delivery in March.
