Italy sees subdued pig iron demand
Italian pig iron demand is weak, with CIS-origin sales in the country subdued due to uncertainty, sources tell Kallanish.
The main distributors have bought a small CIS batch for $665/tonne cfr (€547) but prices for material in consignment at the main Italian steel port of Marghera have reached the equivalent of $680/t cfr. Italian mills are continuing to purchase their usual 2,000-3,000 tonnes from the port without any further commitment.
