Italian pig iron demand remains subdued
The Italian pig iron market remains weak with demand quiet and buyers destocking. Apart from one transaction in May at $455/tonne cfr Italy by one local distributor who buys directly from Russian producers, no transactions have been reported recently.
The gap between Italian bids and Russian offers persists. Buyers intend to pay about $430/t cfr. Ukrainian producers remain absent from the market, but one buyer has been approached by Brazilian sellers.
