Italian merchant bar makers seek increases
Some Italian merchant bar mills are increasing their quotes again, by €20/tonne ($24) compared to last week, effective from Monday. Contracts last week already rose to the level of €700/t for the first time in years. The further increases are in line with hikes implemented on all other steel products in the country and follow the strong domestic price increases for May, Kallanish notes.
