Italian HRC buyers eye local, import price alignment
Italian service centres are buying some hot rolled coil volumes from the import market despite import prices increasing by €15-20/tonne ($16-21) compared to May. The strategy is to buy very little in Europe and procure material in Asia at between €600-630/t cfr Italy, from the usual suppliers in Korea, Vietnam, Japan and India, Kallanish notes.
