Italian domestic wire rod demand stagnates, prices fall
Italian wire rod prices have kept decreasing in recent days, dragged down by import offers from countries within and outside the EU at sometimes €100/tonne ($118) less than domestic prices, Kallanish notes.
Trade has come to a standstill that is forecast to continue until September as the country is now officially on leave for the August summer break. This year, most long product mills will implement 2-3 weeks of summer stoppages.
