Italian steel output declines in first quarter
Italian crude steel output increased 2.6% year-on-year in March to 2.1 million tonnes, according to data issued by local steelmakers association Federacciai. In the first three months of the year, production however declined by 6% on-year to 5.6mt.
Flat steel production decreased however by 7.1% to 917,000t last month and by 11.5% to 2.4mt in January-March. Longs output hiked 3.3% last month to 1.3mt but fell by 6.8% to 3.1mt in the first quarter, Kallanish notes.…
