Northwest EU coil players debate price floor
Coil prices have kept slipping in northwestern Europe, but some observers believe the floor is near, citing rising import values, as well as mills holding back offers and possibly throttling production.
At the beginning of this month, observers were hoping for a stabilisation but also anticipating a further softening, albeit only minimally. This was after May saw a drop of up to €90/tonne ($98) for hot rolled coil.
