Iron ore slumps on lower demand
Seaborne iron ore prices fell sharply on Wednesday as rapidly falling pig iron production hit market sentiment.
The Kallanish KORE 62% Fe index and the KORE 65% Fe index dropped $4.44/t and $4.06/t respectively on Wednesday to $135.07/dry metric tonne cfr Qingdao and $146.08/dmt cfr. The KORE 58% Fe index meanwhile lost $5.83/t to $122.1/dmt cfr. 90,000 tonnes of Newman fines were sold at $133.1/t with a laycan of 11-20 February, with 70,000t of Carajas fines book…
