Iron ore jumps on February output hopes
Seaborne iron ore prices jumped on Monday despite rising stocks and expectations of a weak GDP figure on Tuesday. Some analysts have pointed to a more optimistic scenario for iron ore this year, but the caveats on Chinese steel demand remain.
The Kallanish index for 62% Fe Australian fines leapt $2.34/t to $42.17/dry metric tonne cfr Qingdao on Monday. 170,000t of PB fines sold in a tender at $42.27/t cfr with a laycan in 29 January-7 February.
