Iron ore drops on steel mill cost pressure
Seaborne iron ore prices returned to a downtrend on Thursday amid weaker sentiment. The sharp drop in steel prices has compressed the profit margins of steel mills and put pressure on prices of raw materials.
The Kallanish KORE 62% Fe index declined $0.39/t to $90.00/dry metric tonne cfr Qingdao. The Kallanish KORE 65% Fe index lost $0.38/t to $105.35/dmt cfr, and the KORE 58% Fe index was $0.04/t lower to $64.57/dmt cfr.
