Iron ore collapses as steel mills cut output
Seaborne iron ore prices fell further on Friday after dropping below the $90/tonne mark on Thursday. Iron ore demand is under pressure as Chinese steel mills cut output, Kallanish notes.
The Kallanish KORE 62% Fe index lost $1.14/t on Friday to $87.9/dry metric tonne cfr Qingdao. The Kallanish KORE 65% Fe index was $1.1/t lower on Friday at $100.14/dmt cfr, and the KORE 58% Fe index declined $0.81/t to $82.16/dmt cfr.
