Iraq’s State Company for Steel installs billet caster
Iraq’s State Company for Steel Industries (SCSI) has begun the installation of a continuous billet caster at its site in Taji, north of Baghdad, Kallanish learns from an Iraq industry and minerals ministry statement.
The caster, sourced from a Chinese supplier, will produce up to 260,000 tonnes/year of 100mm and 130mm square billet in lengths of 6-12m.
Neither the ministry nor SCSI responded to repeated requests for further comment.
