Iranian carmaker confirms Oman assembly plant
Iranian carmaker Khodro (IKCO) has signed an agreement with the Omani government to establish an automotive assembly plant in Duqm, Oman. IKCO will own 20% of the venture and Oman the balance.
IKCO will supply incompletely disassembled kits, or semi-knocked-downs (SKD), to the plant in Oman for assembly. The car body parts will therefore be produced in Iran, which means the automotive sheet used to produce them is therefore likely to be sourced from Mobarakeh St…
