Iran, Saudi lead Mid-East DRI output growth
Middle Eastern direct reduced iron production in the four countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report increased 13% on-year in October to 3.12 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, is estimated to have increased production 16% in October to 2.12mt. Crude steel output that month is estimated to have risen 10.6% to 2.07mt, suggesting less scrap was used in the steelmaking feedstock mix.
