Iran, Sabic lead Mid-East DRI output surge
Middle Eastern direct reduced iron production in the four countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report surged 35% on-year in March to 2.95 million tonnes, spurred by a recovery in Saudi Arabia, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, saw DRI output surge by an estimated 47% to 2.13mt, while its crude steel output that month is estimated to have soared 43.7% to 2.35mt.
