Iran, Qatar lead Mid-East DRI output growth
Middle Eastern direct reduced iron production in the four countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report surged 27% on-year in July to 3.06 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, grew output 41% in July to 2.02mt, while its crude steel output that month rose 13.2% to 1.98mt, suggesting less scrap was used in the feedstock mix.
