Iran, Qatar drive Mid-East DRI growth in February
Middle Eastern direct reduced iron production in the four countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report surged 24% on-year in February to 2.69 million tonnes, driven by Iran and Qatar, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, saw DRI output surge 52% in February to an estimated 1.92mt, while its crude steel output that month surged 48.6% to 2.12mt.
