Indonesia lowers 2022 nickel smelter capacity outlook
Indonesia's mining ministry mineral director Yunus Saefulhak has lowered the country’s official estimate for nickel smelter capacity in 2022, Kallanish notes.
He said 29 nickel smelters in Indonesia are expected to be in operation by 2022, with a total capacity of around 70 million tonnes/year. This is about 21m t/y lower than his prediction last month, with 8 fewer smelters.
