Indonesia leads ASEAN automotive production slump
ASEAN motor vehicle production declined 32% on-year in 2020 to 2.85 million units, Kallanish notes from ASEAN Automotive Federation data. The largest decline of 47% was seen in Indonesia, the second-largest producer after Thailand.
Vietnamese production was least impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, declining only 6% in 2020 to 165,568 vehicles.
Regional motorcycle and scooter output meanwhile fell 25% in 2020 to 2.74m units.
