India's Visa Steel seeks merger to boost competitiveness
Indian ferrochrome producer Visa Steel (VSL) is seeking shareholders’ approval to amalgamate with affiliate VISA Bao (VBL) to ensure availability of chrome ore as well as gas supply to fuel the captive power plant.
VSL operates a 60,000 tonnes/year ferrochrome smelter, with the infrastructure to double capacity, and a 75MW captive power plant. It has secured a prospecting licence for chrome ore in Manipur to develop captive mines.
