India's scrap import appetite wanes amid pricing, demand
India's steel market is facing a double whammy as cheap domestic scrap has undercut demand for costlier imports, while tepid domestic rebar demand has further dampened prices, according to market participants.
Shredded scrap from the EU is heard quoted at $410-415/tonne cfr Nhava Sheva, while HMS 1&2 (80:20) is at $395-400/t cfr Nhava Sheva and $385-395/t cfr Chennai. UK-origin 80:20 has been heard offered at $372-375/t cfr Mundra, notes Kallanish.
