Indian ministries discuss potential import measures: reports
India’s Ministry of Steel, and Ministry of Commerce and Industry are in discussion over rising imports, especially low-priced product arriving from China, according to local media reports.
India was a net steel importer in April and May. As per Cybex data, Indian hot rolled coil imports fell by 19.9% month-on-month to 152,068 tonnes in April, and dropped by 4.1% on-month to 145,834t in May (see Kallanish passim).
