Export, consumption growth support Indian finished steel output
Indian finished steel production surged 19.6% on-year to 102.98 million tonnes in the 11 months of the current fiscal year ending 31 March 2022, according to Joint Plant Committee (JPC) data seen by Kallanish.
Owing to the recent surge in steel exports, shipments abroad rose 29.6% to 12.3mt, against 9.49mt exported a year earlier. Domestic consumption surged 12.7% to 96.03mt during the period.
