Indian scrap imports surge in October
Indian imports of ferrous scrap under HS code 7204 surged 31% on-year in October 2018 to 535,850 tonnes, Kallanish learns from Indian commerce ministry data.
This came as intake from United Arab Emirates and the UK more than doubled to 127,306t and 53,556t respectively, while imports from South Africa increased 72% to 46,239t. Intake from the US fell -29% to 42,711t, but sourcing from Singapore soared 208% to 41,054t.
