Indian scrap imports decline despite UAE, UK surge
Indian ferrous scrap imports declined -6.1% on-year in September to 507,853 tonnes, according to Indian commerce ministry data monitored by Kallanish.
This came despite a 30.8% surge in intake from United Arab Emirates to 100,638t and an 81.1% growth in imports from the UK to 53,890t. Intake from the US, however, fell -46.3% to 43,078t. Numbers were dragged down by intake from China falling to virtually zero versus almost 33,000t in the year-earlier month.
