Indian iron ore exports surge again on China
Indian iron ore exports surged over five-fold on-year in August to 3.43 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from Indian commerce ministry data. Their average price was $82/tonne versus $116/t in August 2018.
The surge came about as shipments to China ballooned almost nine-fold in August to 3.23mt. Shipments to Japan surged 30% to 76,110t, and Turkey and Qatar imported 60,220t and 53,890t respectively versus zero last year.
