Indian iron ore exports rise on Chinese demand
Indian iron ore fines and pellet exports surged 20% year-on-year to 25.7 million tonnes in the first six months of 2024, according to CYBEX data analysed by Kallanish.
Of the total exports, iron ore fines accounted for 20.3mt, while pellet exports were 5.37mt.
The increase in exports is primarily due to heightened demand from China, particularly for Indian low-grade fines, and better sales realisations for Indian suppliers in export markets.
