Indian consumption accelerates, imports slump in December
Indian apparent finished steel consumption accelerated significantly in December, while imports slumped, bringing to an end seven consecutive months of growth.
According to an Indian Joint Plant Committee (JPC) report seen by Kallanish, apparent consumption rose 6.2% on-year in December to 7.62 million tonnes, while imports fell -26.4% to 561,000t.
