Indian coking coal production surge amid slower imports
Indian coking coal production surged 23.41% on-year to 3.8 million tonnes in May against 3.08mt produced a year earlier. Output in April-May also grew 18.46% to 7.46mt, Kallanish notes.
Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) was the largest producer of coking coal last month, producing 2.49mt during the period. Other major producers included CCL (1.28mt), SECL (0.02mt) and WCL (0.01mt).
