Indian automotive output drops amid high festive demand
Indian automotive output plunged 19% on-year to 2,125,304 units in September, reports the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Output includes passenger vehicles (PV), commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycles.
Production marginally declined in the September quarter, by 3% on-year to 6,474,793 units. However, it increased 35% on-year to 11,058,514 units during April-September 2021, Kallanish notes.
