India raises UAE-origin scrap intake despite export ban
Indian scrap imports fell for a fourth consecutive month in September, although the decline slowed from previous months to -8% on-year. This resulted in imports of 439,255 tonnes, Kallanish learns from Indian commerce ministry provisional data. This was also up from 322,238t in August.
The average value of imported obsolete scrap under HS code 720449 was $317/tonne, down from $343/t in September 2019 but up from $302/t in August 2020.
