JSW Steel surrenders Odisha iron ore mine
Indian steel major JSW Steel has announced its decision to surrender the mining lease for the Jajang iron ore block in Keonjhar, Odisha, citing uneconomic operations, notes Kallanish.
Acquired by JSW Steel in 2020, the Jajang mine is one of the largest iron ore mines in Odisha with reserves of 55 million tonnes.
The notice for surrender was filed on 3 August 2024, and is currently pending regulatory approval.
