India continues to absorb Asian flats supply
India’s role as absorber of excess flat steel supply continued in October as its economic growth surges, bucking the global trend.
Indian hot rolled flat steel imports under HS code heading 7208 jumped 49% on-year in October to 280,619 tonnes, with Chinese-origin product comprising 49,314t versus just 3,172t a year earlier.
