Chhattisgarh steel producers protest power tariff surge
Representatives of Chhattisgarh's iron and steel industries have voiced significant concerns over the recent hike in electricity tariffs, saying it is severely impacting the steel sector, according to local press reports.
Chhattisgarh is the third-largest steel producing state in India, contributing around 12% of the country’s crude steel production, and 10% of India’s iron ore pellet and 20% of sponge iron production, notes Kallanish.
