Improved demand, prices drive Alchemia return to profit
Poland's Alchemia posted a 26% on-year increase in consolidated revenue in 2017 to PLN 969.96 million ($283.8m) thanks to increased steel demand and prices. The firm turned to a net profit of PLN 7.42m versus a loss a year earlier of PLN 220,000.
Revenue generated in Poland rose 14% in 2017 to PLN 415.58m. Exports to other EU countries surged 40% to PLN 512.62m and those to non-EU countries surged 46% to PLN 29.4m.
