Imports drag India's output growth rate behind consumption
Indian steel consumption is seen growing at 7% on-year each in the fiscal years through March 2019 and March 2020 (FY19 and FY20). However, production will grow only 2.5-3% in FY19 due to the increased threat from steel imports and reduced steel exports owing to global trade tensions, according to Indian credit rating agency ICRA.
