Hunan details mislabelled steel capacity closures for 2017
Central China’s Hunan province eliminated 3.45 million tonnes/year of mislabelled steelmaking capacity from 88 induction furnace in 2017, according to the provincial Economy & Information Commission (EIC). The final reported number was 300,000 t/y higher than in the review at the end of the first half of last year, Kallanish notes.
Last year Hunan produced 17.899 million tonnes of hot metal, 20.414mt of crude steel and 22.102mt of steel products. …
