HKM retains staff and processing despite tonnage cuts
Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM) will retain its current staff number despite reducing its slab output in the long run from 5.2 million tonnes/year to 4.2m t/y.
Several months ago, HKM announced that its owners, thyssenkrupp, Salzgitter and Vallourec, will reduce their intake from the mill. The management then planned to lay off 400 employees and to outsource ancillary processing facilities with another 200 people.
