High costs, weak sales squeeze Turkish rebar producers
Turkish rebar producers are being squeezed between high production costs and lacklustre steel sales, which is forcing them to consider further production cuts.
They are seen trying to maintain rebar offers at above $695-700/tonne fob Turkey actual weight due to high production costs. However, $690/t fob seems achievable on firm bids. Offers for mesh-quality wire rod, meanwhile, are mostly at $710-740/t fob.
