HBIS reports lower profit, targets Laoting expansion
Last week, China-listed steelmaking giant HBIS Company Limited announced lower earnings for the first half of 2022, and also approved the plan to carry out the second phase of its Laoting factory.
The company produced 14.36 million tonnes of iron during the period, up just 0.8% year-on-year. Output of crude steel and finished steel totaled 13.83mt and 13.1mt, falling 1.7% and 6% from a year earlier, respectively, Kallanish notes.
