Hanggang shuts plant to clear skies

Eastern China’s Hangzhou Iron and Steel (Hanggang) has completed the shutdown of its 3.6 million tonnes/year steelworks in Hangzhou city. The company will relocate some capacity to Ningbo Iron and Steel (Ninggang) which it bought in early 2015, Kallanish notes. The plant was forced to relocate as authorities are attempting to ensure blue skies over a meeting of the G20 in Hangzhou in late 2016. Hanggang received government support however in taking control…
