Hadeed leads Middle Eastern steel output growth rebound
Crude steel output in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report rebounded 9.6% on-year in October to 3.06 million tonnes. This follows 2.9% on-year growth in September, the slowest rate so far in 2018.
The accelerated October growth was thanks to an estimated 22.4% surge in crude steel production at Saudi Arabia’s largest steelmaker, Hadeed, to 485,000t. This took January-October output up 6.4% on-year to 4.49mt.
